    Canadian Solar Sells Solar Power Projects in China

    Canadian Solar Inc. today announced that CSI Solar Power (China) Inc. has entered into a project sale agreement, pursuant to which, Create Technology & Science Co., Ltd. ("Create Technology & Science") has agreed to purchase Canadian Solar's operating solar power projects in Funing County, Jiangsu Province, China for approximately RMB218.5 million (US$32.8 million).

    First Solar Shifts Malaysian Production Capacity to Series 5 Assembly

    First Solar, Inc. announced today that it is reallocating production capacity at its Kulim, Malaysia, facility to support a new assembly line dedicated to the company's recently announced Series 5 thin film photovoltaic module offering. As a result, First Solar will end production of its TetraSun crystalline silicon solar panel product currently manufactured there, and expects to incur impairment and related charges of approximately $90 million to $110 million, substantially all of which is expected to be non-cash. These actions are expected to reduce First Solar's operating expenses by $2 million to $4 million this year and $8 million to $10 million annually going forward.

    SunPower Builds 4MW Solar Plant at California State University

    California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and SunPower Corp. announced that construction is underway on a 4MW SunPower® solar power system at three university parking areas. CSUF will purchase the emission-free solar power generated by the system under a power purchase agreement that offers competitive rates, enabling the university to offset over one-third of their peak electrical load, potentially saving millions in electricity costs over almost 20 years, according to CSUF.
