Canadian Solar Investing $23 Million in Brazil Panel Factory
Canadian Solar Inc. is building its first plant in Brazil. The facility in Sorocaba, in the state of Sao Paulo, will be able to assemble about 350MW of panels a year, according to Wladimir Janousek, general manager of the company's Brazil unit. The Guelph is expected to announce Friday that it's investing about 80 million reais ($23 million) in the facility. -

GTAT Announces Orders for Polysilicon Production Equipment and Technology
GTAT Corporation (GT), the principal operating arm of GT Advanced Technologies group, announced that it has received several new orders for polysilicon equipment and technology from customers in Asia. These orders include its latest hydrochlorination Fluid Bed Reactor for the production of Trichlorosilane (TCS), which supports more than 12,000 MTA polysilicon equivalent. Also included are upgrades to existing hydrochlorination Fluid Bed Reactors and polysilicon CVD reactors. -

ABB Connects 648MW Solar Projects to the Indian Grid
ABB has successfully commissioned five substations to integrate a 648MW solar project at Kamuthi in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu to the national transmission grid. The project was awarded by independent power producer (IPP) Adani Group in 2015, and completed on schedule. The solar photovoltaic project is made up of five plants in a single location. 360MW from the solar project is currently grid-connected and at full capacity this facility will account for nearly 10 percent of the country's current solar capacity of around 7GW. -
