SPIE has announced, via its SPIE Belgium subsidiary, the acquisition of three firms specialising in electrical and solar panel installation work in the Walloon region encompassing Mouscron, Tournai and Kortrijk. This acquisition will provide a major boost for SPIE Belgium's business in these fields.

All three companies, G. Van Overschelde (Mouscron), Vano Electro (Tournai)) and Vanogroep (Kortrijk) operate in the sectors of electrical engineering and, notably, the installation of solar panels. Van Overschelde SA (industrial electricity) employs 31 people and achieved sales of €5.8 million in 2011. Vano Electro SA (solar panels) has 27 employees and sales of €7.2 million. Vanogroep NV (industrial electricity) has 10 employees and sales worth €0.46 million. These firms will keep their existing names as members of the SPIE Group.

"This takeover represents a new phase in SPIE Belgium's growth in a dynamic region where our active involvement has been insufficient until now," explains Johan Dekempe, CEO of SPIE Belgium.

"In spite of the economic crisis, this market continues to offer a great many opportunities. We will be pushing ahead with the development of these three firms by building on the skills of their employees," adds Didier Vanden Broucke, operational director of SPIE Belgium Industry division.

"I've dedicated my life to furthering the development and prosperity of the companies taken over by SPIE," says Luc Van Overschelde, managing director of the three newly acquired companies. "My main concern was to safeguard the jobs of employees who had worked with me for many long years. I came to admire SPIE's personnel for their expertise and enthusiasm. I am now convinced they will be successful in developing the three companies."
