Japan Railway Group has chosen Siliken as its PV solar panel supplier for the first installation carried out by the Group. Siliken will provide its solar modules to Kyushu Railway, one of the new companies within the Japan Railway Group.

The project starts with the construction of a PV solar park of 2MW, which Siliken will provide in addition to two other international providers of solar PV solutions. The construction of the park started in July on the island of Kyushu, Japan, and is expected to finish in March 2013 in order to provide electricity to the station at Miyakonojo, with more than thousand passengers a day.

Siliken has strategically moved into the Asian market in order to respond to a growing demand for quality PV solutions, a sector which pits Siliken against low-cost competitors. As Ugo Portillo, Director of the Asia-Pacific Region, puts it, "countries like Japan and Australia hit growth levels of close to 100% as a result of demand increases, thanks to government subsidies to foment the use of renewable energy."
