Chint Solar to start with the construction works on a 116 ha area close to the A7 nearby Hoogezand Sappemeer.

Mister Borg quotes:" The Municipality of Groningen is happy that the construction works and realization of the solar park hasstarted. The solar park Midden-Groningen will be a landmark for the region and the energy transition in the Netherlands. The municipality is proud to be a pioneer in renewable energiesin the region."

Regional Minister Homan emphasizes the importance for the province of Groningen:" More and more households and companies are asking for locally produced, sustainable energy. A large solar park like Central Groningen meets that demand, making this area more attractive for companies that want to switch to green energy."

The solar park will be built during the course of 2019. It is planned to connect the project to the grid network before year-end. For the construction, Chint Solar is working together with experienced contractors. Goldbeck Solar and Greencellswill construct the solar park, ABB Netherlands will build the 33/110 kV private substation and the local company Alsema will realize the high voltage connection to the TenneT substation at Kropswolde.

Among other initiatives, Chint Solar will launch a project website to regularly inform all stakeholders and local residence on the construction progress and other relevant topics. During its operational lifetime, the solar park will offset more than 1,639 kilotons of CO2 and will produce enough renewable energy every year to power 35,000 households. Bernardo Silvestre, Head of Business Development at Chint Solar Europe:" We explicitly thank all local stakeholders for their contribution and collaboration for this solar park. Midden Groningen solar park would not have been built if it wasn't for the resilience of all involved. Our technology and know-how allows us to differentiate ourselves in the market and tackle challenging projects such as this one."

In all projects, Chint Solar has installed its Astronergy solar panels. Oliver Schweininger, Managing Director at Chint Solar in Europe:" Chint Solar is committed to a successful energy transition in the Netherlands and will continue to invest to bring new solar power generation online in the coming years." For the time to come, Chint Solar remains active in the Netherlands and is planning the realization of furthersolar parks. This again is set to be achieved in close collaboration with municipalities, provinces and other public entities, and in partnering with local communities and specialized companies in the industry.
